District Committee Recap

  • Attendence: Paul Grego, Scott Lewis, Casey Yankelitis, Bob Snyder, Charlotte Snyder, Mark Amig, Tina Lewis
  • Training Report: Trainers Edge was held last week and 3 Shawnee Volunteers were in attendence. Wood Badge course is scheduled for 2018, and NYLT is scheduled for 2019. JVC has a contingent that is going to National Jamboree that is in an NYLT course so they can lead the training in council. Roughly 30 people are in need to renew or take their YPT and Scott Lewis has sent out an email to them and the unit leaders to take the training. Merit Badge Counselor Training is now live online and Counselors will be getting contacted in order to take it.
  • Advancement Report: 2 Board of Reviews have taken place for Troop 113 and Troop 169. There has been one Eagle Approval. In 2017 there has been 6 Eagle Approvals. Life to Eagle class has been cancelled for Advancement Day.
  • Camping Report: There are three major projects taking place in camp. Currently the projects are in hold until funding for a DCNR Grant comes in. Through the grant Kurtz Cabin is being finished, Current shower house will be refurbished and a 3 season shower house will be constructed for the upper sites.
  • Activities Report: District Pinewood Derby will be held April 29th at 2pm at the Compass Center in Lewistown. Spring Camporee is getting ready to be held on May 5th-7th. Earl Davis and Troop 65 has a good program put together for the event. Troop 9 of Evendale will be holding the Fall Camporee Sept.15th-17th. Gold Medal Dinner date and location will be determind.
  • Finance: Paul Wilson, formally of Wilson's Jewelry and Gifts, was chosen as the honoree for the Shawnee Good Scout Award. Invitations will be sent out soon. FOS sits at $1,455.00 with pledges being included.
  • Membership Report: We are currently at our lowest point for the year at 237 youth in our program. We are sitting at -83 from our total of last year, which is in a lot better shape from when I stepped in last year. A Venture Crew will be starting up by the end of the Month at the Compass Center. Reforming Pack 60 and A New Day Charter School Exploring Post have been put on hold. A recruitment event with Burnham Sweet Frog is being planned in the coming weeks and details will be announced when finalized.
  • Next Meeting will be held on May 4th at 6:00pm at the Compass Center.
