The great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald is about a man full of hope and reveals what love can do to a person. one evident example is Gatsby's hopes for a future with daisy.

Quotes - 1: "It excited him, too, that many men had already loved Daisy — it increased her value in his eyes." 2: "Gatsby believed in the green light, the orgiastic future that year by year recedes before us. It eluded us then, but that's no matter — tomorrow we will run faster, stretch out our arms farther . . . . And one fine morning — So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past." 3: " Arriving an hour before Daisy, Gatsby is nervous and, for the first time in the novel, a little unsure of himself."

CHARACTERIZATION: JAY GATSBY - a wealthy man and the owner of a luxurious mansion where extravagant parties are often hosted. hes crazy in love with daisy.

symbolism in The great Gatsby - the green light: THE GREEN LIGHT SYMBOLIZES GATSBY'S HOPES AND DREAMS FOR A FUTURE WITH DAISY. IT ALSO REPRESENTS THE DISTANCE BETWEEN HIM AND DAISY. "And as I sat there brooding on the old, unknown world, I thought of Gatsby's wonder when he first picked out the green light at the end of Daisy's dock. He had come a long way to this blue lawn, and his dream must have seemed so close that he could hardly fail to grasp"
