William Goodrich Jones State Forest was purchased in 1926 by Texas A&M Forest Service.

One of the nation's largest managed urban forests with over 15-miles of shaded trails under a canopy of pines and hardwood trees.

Since the early 1950s, youth conservation education is an important part of place-based experiential learning.

Exploring Houston's Backyard & Beyond along with Classroom without Walls are signature programs of Texas A&M Forest Service reaching some 3,000 4th-graders annually with specific learning environmental learning elements.
