Music In the Air Scarsdale teachers hold charming cOncert

Scarsdale music teachers held a concert of their own on Thursday, March 28, at Heathcote Elementary School, entertaining an audience of parents and students thrilled to see their teachers on stage. The Scarsdale Faculty Concert is in its 10th year.

Maggie Hoffee performed "Please Don't Talk About Me When I'm Gone" and "Frim Fram Sauce."

Performing in the concert were Lisa Forte, music teacher at Edgewood, Jennifer Giustino, music teacher at Quaker Ridge, Michael Schmidt, director of choirs at Scarsdale High School, Maggie Hoffee, a retired Greenacres music teacher, Jane Meryll, the district's longtime accompanist, Connie Grossman-Leviatin, band director at Scarsdale Middle School, and Enrique Orengo, instrumental music teacher at Scarsdale Middle School.

Mr. Orengo, accompanied by Jane Meryll, performed Astor Piazzolla's "Libertango" on the cello.

Connie Grossman-Leviatin performed a challenging "Ballade" by Albert Perilhou

Scarsdale High School's Director of Choirs Mike Schmidt performed a classic, Leonard Bernstein's "Maria." Goosebumps.

Enrique Orengo performs Daniel van Goens' "Sherzo" with Barbara Laman-Rice on the piano.
Jennifer Giustino performs the off-key "A Word on My Ear"

The music teachers also applauded Dr. Craig Sherman, District Coordinator of Music and Performing Arts and High School Department Chair, who will be retiring at the end of the school year.
