Sheltering in the Blitz By mariah.

London was bombed during World War 2.

London and other major towns were frequently attacked, mainly at night.

Hitler ordered German planes to bomb Great Britain.
These planes came to bomb Great Britain, when thay got close to us air rades sirens would go off of to warn us and to shelter.
For people that had gardens they would have one of these shelters, this is called an Anderson Shelter.

If you earned less than £5 a week you could get this shelter for free. For people who earned more than £5 you could buy one for £7.

For families with no gardens they could get a Morrison Shelter. They would use them as dining tables when thet werent under attack from German bombers.

The Morrison Shelter would hold 2 adults and was 6ft long.
