Snapshot 19 January 2017

Dear Friends

At the start of a new year I thought that I would share these passages with you:

Isaiah 19:18 "Do not call to mind the former things, Or ponder things of the past.”

Isaiah 43:19 "Behold, I will do something new, Now it will spring forth; Will you not be aware of it? I will even make a roadway in the wilderness, Rivers in the desert.”

The challenge for a lot of us is that we live so much in the past that we struggle to see what God is doing today. At the start of the year why not make time to consider what God wants to do for and through you instead of being caught up in the regrets of the past.

School News

Blank stares, confusion and cries - it was a mixture of emotions on the first day of school here at Eastside. The start of the academic year was met with tears and refusal to separate from parents, especially in Sungarden Nursery School. Our staff were ready, with many hands to comfort those who were anxious.

However, there were those who were brave, excited and ready to leave parents to face the first day of school head-on.

Teacher Megan's Grade 3 Class

We wish all our learners and parents a very fruitful year at Eastside School.

Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Congratulations are in order for Teacher Candice!

Candice & Sergio are engaged! Huge congratulations and all the best as you plan your life together.

Teen Church: I'm In

This past Sunday we launched our first series of the year with our Tweens and Teens called "IM IN".

“Are you in?” It’s a question we all answer over and over again. When there’s a party, when our coach says it’s time for tryouts, when we’re offered a summer job, when our friends go to the movies, or when someone invites us to church, we all have the chance to decide if we’re “in” or “out” for that particular activity. Sometimes the answer is an easy, “Count me in!” Other times it’s tougher. There are good reasons on both sides. Some of Jesus’ friends were faced with the same decision of whether they were “in” or “out.” They had good reasons to join the Jesus movement, but they also had some pretty compelling reasons to step out—things like doubt, guilt, pride, and the fear of what they might miss. As we get to know these sometimes famous and devoted followers, we’ll talk about the decision they faced, why they could have walked away, and what led them to say, “I’m in.”

Please Take Note: Tons of good stuff coming up!
