Travel is my passion & every year I choose to travel in order to celebrate my birthday. I decided on Amsterdam for my 22nd birthday, a place I've travelled to before, but I've always held close to my heart. Leaving from Heathrow, 40 mins later we arrived in Amsterdam where we'd spend the next three days!
As soon as we landed, our first thought was to try and sightsee on the way to our accommodation. Peeking out from our tram, we took in the sights of Dam Square, famous coffee shops and many other landmarks!
We were sceptical about staying in a hostel after the many horror stories that you can hear on Tripadvisor, but our accommodation 'CityHub' had us hooked! A digitalised hostel, Cityhub is equipped with interactive lights, futuristic rooms and even gives you a personal wifi stick so you can stay connected around the city! How could we pass it up, it was fantastic!
We were only in Amsterdam for the weekend, so we made sure we took a look at some of Amsterdam we weren't able to see on our previous visits.
The Van Gogh Museum (they even had a Monet exhibit!)
I feel that there is nothing more truly artistic than to love people. - Van Gogh
'I Am Amsterdam' - Museumplein
This incredible child in Dam square! He was absolutely fearless, he started out simply feeding one or two birds with his father and eventually many started to flock towards him. I, personally, would have been terrified and ran for the hills, but this little man handled the situation with grace and incredible composure! Go you little man! Take a look at the footage here!!
And finally, what's a trip to Amsterdam without having a peek at some of the 'culture', right?
