LIGHTING:
I was wanting something very simple for this lighting. The light should be very even throughout the stage. Perhaps, to eliminate distractions, the rooms could be dark of not in use. Perhaps add small areas of yellow/orange to be the "lights" inside the hotel. And maybe some light by the window.
I started out with the color pallet. I researched popular color pallets from the 1930’s and decided I liked this one the best. I made a list of the requirements in the description, and then brainstormed some other things that would have to be in the set as well. I started looking up pictures and friend to find the ones that explicitly said “1930” under it, as well as fit into the color pallet. I tried to make sure there was an even distribution of color throughout all the furniture so the set was not mostly the same color. I also attempted to keep the same theme in the set. (woodwork, look, type, style, etc.)
