Gather your ingredients:
3 cups flour
3/4 cup sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
3/4 tsp salt
1 cup raisins
1 cup buttermilk
1/4 cup melted/cooled butter
First soak your raisins in room temperature water. Just enough to cover the water.
First sift all of your dry ingredients 3 times
In a separate bowl, mix buttermilk, butter, and eggs.
Now add your dry ingredients to your wet. Mixing only until just combined
Drain your raisins and mix into batter with a wooden spoon or rubber spatula.
Spread into a lightly greased 8" round pan.
Place in the oven for 55-60 minutes at 350 degrees.
