50 Years Ago Today
50 years ago today, the "Lost 74" perished in the sinking of the USS Frank E. Evans during the Vietnam War. But their names are not listed on the Vietnam Veteran Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C.
During one of my radio town halls last year, a family member of Richard Grant, a North Dakota resident and survivor of the USS Frank E. Evans disaster, approached me about the issue. I was deeply moved by the story, and I introduced an amendment to last year’s National Defense Authorization Act to inscribe the names of the 74 sailors to the memorial. While the measure unanimously passed the House, it failed to pass the Senate.
Just like the nearly 60,000 people who died in Vietnam, these 74 heroes left home to give their country their all, and they did not return. Read more about the "Lost 74" in my op-ed below.
President Trump promised to allow year-round sales of E15 and continue improving the RIN process, and this week, EPA Administrator Wheeler delivered.
This is excellent news for producers and consumers in North Dakota and across the country. I advocated for these actions to expand consumer choice and enhance market information because I oppose unnecessary regulations and support increased transparency. I applaud the administration for finalizing this rule before the summer driving season, and I thank them for continuing their deregulatory agenda while being responsive to the needs of the agricultural community.

Flooding Across North Dakota
Senator John Hoeven, Congressman Kelly Armstrong and I wrote a letter to President Trump requesting him to announce a presidential major disaster declaration for the flooding across North Dakota.
The flood damaged homes, equipment, roads and farmland. I will continue pressing the President for this declaration to provide relief for folks at home.
