Reflective Introduction Looking back through the process

Overall, this project (and this class) was a step in the right direction for me as a student. I liked getting to learn new study habits and coming out of my comfort zone when practicing new study techniques; I felt like being in that area of discomfort forced me to become more inclined to learn. The only thing that I didn't like--and this was my fault more than anything else--was how much time it took to complete everything, but I'm a perfectionist and want everything to be pretty, which takes an immense amount of time and effort. Through all of the exhibits, I learned so many sets of skills; whether they were cognitive, interpersonal, new study habits or even new values to promote success--all were beneficial to my growth as a student and as a person. For example, I had never even considered the thought of having short & long term memory or the effects that they both have on my academic life, but finding out how to use both of these for my advantage has helped me beyond measure and has created an improved work ethic within me.

The process of creating this portfolio was actually pretty fun. I enjoyed working with Adobe and the professionalism it added to the project. I'm an artsy person and I loved getting to explore new methods of creativity. I feel like I should've changed my Self-Designed Exhibits because they were both journals and it was just a lot to keep up with and a lot to type into Adobe.

Throughout this project, I loved adopting new ways of thinking and trying them out. It has been quite helpful on my study habits, my bank account and my social skills. I disliked how much time some things took and, to be honest, that might have been more of my fault: I like to make things look pretty in Adobe, which takes a lot of time and energy.

The most beneficial exhibits for me were the ones where I had to interview professors because, before then, I had barely ever talked to my professors. It helped me get over my fear of approaching them and asking for help, as well as provided new professional relationships that I can hopefully use in my career.

To future students, if you're wondering if this class is worth it: it is. Im so glad I took this class because it has helped my study skills and the way that I approach school in general, as well as helping my GPA a little bit. Don't procrastinate on this assignment; if you slack off a little bit on each exhibit, eventually a mountain of work will fall on you and it'll will take a lot of sleepless nights and a lot of coffee runs to catch up. And if you're wondering if you'll have to actually put in work into this portfolio and into this class: of course you will. This is Clemson, where we work hard at everything we do.

Go Tigers!
