Jennifer Lopez was born on July 24, 1969, in the Bronx, New York.
She was raised by her Puerto Rican parents Guadalupe Rodríguez and David Lopez.
At the age of five, Jennifer Lopez began taking singing and dancing lessons.

Jennifer Lopez parents always taught them how important work ethic and being able to speak English was. They also encouraged their three daughters to put on performances at home.

While she was in school she was in many sports like gymnastics, ran track on a national level, and was a member of the school's softball team.
Her senior year of high school she found out about a film that was looking for teenage girls for small roles. She auditioned in My Little Girl in the year 1986, Jennifer got the role of Myra. After she finished her role in the movie she realized she wanted to become a famous movie star.

She decided to tell her parents about her dream career and her parents said it was stupid because "No latino did that" so when she was old enough she decided to move out of her parents house and move to her own apartment in Manhattan.

Jennifer Lopez was on her own, she was hired for the chorus in a Golden Musicals of Broadway, although she was singing and doing what she likes she was unhappy with the role because she was the only member of the chorus that didn't have a solo.
JLo was a backup dancer for the New Kids on the Block in 1991 and performed with them at the 18th Annual American Music Awards.

Jennifer also got the role of a Fly Girl dancer on the television program "In Living Color." In the video above you will be able to see her in the minutes 2:21-2:30. She was a backup dancer for artist Janet Jackson.
