The Era Of Good Feelings The ¨Era of Good Feelings" marked a period in the political history of the United States that reflected a sense of national purpose and a desire for unity among Americans in the aftermath of the Napoleonic Wars and the War of 1812.

The early United States´ Politics also known as ¨ The Era Of Good Feelings¨ started off with James Monroe winning the presidential election of 1816. James Monroe brought about the decline of the Federalist Party through neglect while also avoiding persecution of the Federalists.In Addition, a national trend that envisioned a permanent role for the federal government in developing the nation's prosperity.

Art

Most professional artist tried to illustrate their paintings with methods that would make their pieces of work show emotions and characteristics. One of the best-known portrait artist was Gilbert Stuart. The picture that would soon to become the face of the one dollar bill, was taken from the George Washington's portrait painted by Gilbert Stuart. This pictured was loved so much, that in 1812, president Madison's wife saved from the once burning white house.

Music

The new American country expressed itself through music. Before the 1800s, music would mostly be heard in church. After a while, orchestras started playing music from europe. In the south, slaves combined the hymns of white churchgoers with African musical styles to create spirituals. In the south west, square dances dances became common. These were less formal versions of the popular cotillion. As fiddles played, a ¨caller¨”told the dancer which moves to perform.

One the United States first successful writers was Washington Irving, with great stories like ¨Rip Van Winkle¨ and ¨The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow¨ Mr. Irving started to become well known all over his home country. James Fenimore Cooper was one of the nation's first novelist. He wrote books like like “ The Pioneer” and “The Last Of The Mohicans”. Davy Crockett wrote books on his life as a hunter, scout, soldier, explorer.

Early 1800

The nation in 1800 was very different from what it is today. Fewer than one in ten lived west of the Appalachians mountains. These round-topped, forested mountains extended like a bumpy spine from Maine through Georgia. Two out of every three Americans still lived within 50 miles of the Atlantic Coast. They made travel between East and West very difficult.

Davy Crockett

Davy crockett actually wrote a biography about his adventurous, thrilling, courageous life. He helped give american literature a new twist with backwards speech and rough humor. Lastly a famous poetry writer Henry Wadsworth Longfellow was the first to write americas epic poem Hiawatha that talks about indians and growing importance of the United states such as The Building of a Ship and Paul Revere's Ride.

People that could argue that this was clearly not ¨The Era Of Good Feelings¨ would be Women, Slaves, and Native Americans. Slave wouldn't consider it this because they were treated really badly and and had to worked really hard to be set free, that is if you did´ent escape first.
