The Citrus County Chronicle will be recognizing the county’s top athletes June 1 at its annual sports awards event.

STARS (Student Athletic Recognitions) is in its 10th year. The event begins 5:30 p.m. Thursday, June 1, at the College of Central Florida Citrus Campus in Lecanto on State Road 491.

The Chronicle has already published its all-Chronicle teams for the fall and winter high school sports seasons and will begin publishing the spring sports teams in May at the end of their respective seasons.

The Chronicle chooses the athlete of the year in each sport from three finalists. The athlete of the year in each sport will be announced at the event. The Chronicle will also recognize the overall male and female MVPs,

scholar-athletes, readers choice winners and the top male and female athletes of the year.
