Weekly Reflections January 20, 2017

Dear APH families,

Parent Night is February 16th!

We look forward to welcoming you all for a Parent Night here at The Academy. On February 16th, we invite you to learn more about our program and philosophy. Please join us at 6:30 for our formal program and then stay for a parent social with fellow parents, staff and faculty; wine and beer will be served.

College Counseling

College counseling has begun. Juniors are having one on one meetings with me throughout the day. I will be sending home a parent questionnaire for you to complete. I appreciate your help as your feedback is crucial in this process. I look forward to speaking with each of you as we begin this journey together. FYI - In myAPH there is a College Counseling Class that will have all of the info for the whole process.

Interested in Study Abroad?

Does your daughter take Spanish? Is she interested in a summer study abroad trip? On February 1st, Mrs. Block will hold an informational meeting at 6:30 pm. The trip will be to Ecuador from June 18- July 1. Please email Mrs. Block if you plan to attend: bblock@penguinhall.org.

SJP Game Night

The game night at St. John’s Prep was a success! Students played a myriad of games, met some new friends and had fun. We look forward to hosting our own game night with SJP in the spring.

Basketball Update

The basketball team continues to persevere! Coaches and officials have commented on the tenacity of our team. Despite having only six members this team gives other schools a run for their money. Last Friday night they played Danvers High School and the game was a nail biter! The girls held their own until finally being defeated in the last quarter. Way to go ladies!

Our students continue to volunteer each Friday night at Friday Night Happenings. This week there is an ugly sweater dance. Ms. DaCosta has been told that members of Northeast Arc are so appreciative that our students have embraced volunteering for them. Well done!

Fitness Center

Our fitness center is nearly finished. Do you have any equipment in your home that is in good condition and not being used? Consider donating it to The Academy. We are looking for elliptical machines, rowers, treadmills and weights. Please contact Emilie Cademartori at: ecademartori@penguinhall.org.
