A sit-in is when large numbers of people go do a business or public area and don't move until they are forced to
The Greensboro Sit-ins
The Greensboro sit-ins were a series of nonviolent protests in Greensboro, North Carolina
It was organized to protest the Woolworths Department stores segregated lunche counters
Black people would sit at whites only counters and not move
They would endure humiliation and harassment
The protest lasted for 6 months and involved hundreds of people
The protest worked and Woolworths desegregated their lunch counters
