Air pollution in China Yusuke hayashi

What is the air pollution?

- Air pollution is contamination of the atmosphere by wastes from sources such as industrial burning and auto exhaust.

- Can be in form of solid, liquid, or gas.

- Comes mostly from human activities but CAN come from natural sources. (EX: Volcanoes-particles and sulfur dioxide.) (Other: dust, pollen, spores.)

Part 1: Air pollution in China

1, Why is this problem happening in China?

- Air pollution caused by PM 2.5 etc. Occurring in China is mainly caused by burning inexpensive coal that factories can take in China without having sufficient environmental facilities.

- Also, this problem caused by some cars, tracks.

It can be see that exhaust gas is drained from this photograph in large quantities.

2, How impact is it?

- Air pollution has become a major issue in China, and poses a threat to Chinese public health. Coal combustion generated particulate matter also known as "PM". Currently, Beijing is suffering from PM2.5 (or PM 10), which is a particulate matter with diameter of 2.5 micrometers or less. Doctors pointed out that the likely cause was exposure of air pollution, specifically fine particulates from vehicles. The case has gathered large national public attention and also international attention.

- The Telegraph reported (news program) a case of an 8-year-old girl who had contracted lung cancer, becoming the youngest victim of lung cancer in China.

This city is China's worst of city. (Beijing, pekin)

3, What is the environment impact?

- Air pollution affects the environment by causing acid rain, reducing visibility, damaging plants and animals, and contributing to climate change. It has a negative effect on biodiversity. Air pollution is caused by both particulate and gaseous pollutants.

4, What kind of symptom is caused if someone breathe it?

- If someone breathe air pollution's air, actually that's so bad health. According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, such fine particles can cause asthma, bronchitis, and acute and chronic respiratory symptoms such as shortness of breath and painful breathing, and may also lead to premature death. So, most of Chinese use a mask.

Many people put on a mask. (In Shanghai)
Part 2: To prevent this problem

1, What is being to prevent air pollution? (How to prevent air pollution?)

- We should at least, select Air-Friendly Products, save Energy, Reduce Waste. Then we should try to do the, Drive Less, New Car Purchases, Prevent Indoor Pollution, and Support Clean Air Programs etc.

Walking is FREE.

2, How should the people deal with air pollution?

-They (Chinese) can do these method of prevents,

1 Conserve energy – remember to turn off lights, computers, and electric appliances when not in use.

2 Use energy efficient light bulbs and appliances.

3 Participate in your local utility’s energy conservation programs.

4 Limit driving by carpooling, using public transportation, biking and walking.

5 Choose environmentally friendly things.

6 Use water-based or solvent free paints whenever possible and buy products that say "low VOC".

And, they should continue to use a mask everyday.

- Recently, people are buying "VITALITY AIR". This is a clean air of Canada. It's squeezed up by manual labor without putting it through the machine to maintain prettiness of the air.

This bottle is name of "VITALITY AIR".

3, How does the Chinese government think about air pollution?

- In the chapter on air pollution prevention measures of the Chinese government, it is divided into 4 sections of,

1: coal and other energy.

2: pollution control measures such as automobile and ship.

3: dust pollution countermeasure.

4: agriculture and others.

Part 3: Conclusion of my topic

- I think, everyone need to know this problem. And everyone should more ask about this problem. Actually, some country already asked by poster, newspaper, and television commercial. I think that, these things want to know the air pollution is happening. So we should know it. And, we should to fund raising or volunteer. May be it will be better than before. Also, it can be know the problem happening all over the world too. I'll try to help other countries.
