This week we started a new novel, "Woods Runner." This novel is historical fiction based during the Revolutionary War. This novel is written by Gary Paulson, who also wrote Hatchet. The students are already finding similarities in the way he writes by comparing Woods Runner to Hatchet. Our main character is a 13 year old boy named Samuel who is searching for his parents.
This week we have been working on division, measuring and drawing angles. The students have been using protractors to measure angles. We are continuing to review long division as this has been a difficult concept for many of them. I am including a couple of different links they can use to practice at home.
The students have been learning about volcanoes. They students worked with a partner to map the different volcanoes around the world. Then, they worked in teams to learn more specific information about volcanoes, including different types and what they are made of.
