The COLOSSEUM By JAKE LENTZ

The Colosseum in Rome,Italy was starting to get built under the emperor "Vespasion" in 72 AD,and was finished in 80 AD. The Colosseum was made with Travertine"a type of limestone" ,concrete for the vaults, tiles, bricks,and marble. The Colosseum was made for entertainment for 390 years. More than 400,000 people were killed in the Colosseum, and about 1,000,000 animals died. Here are some of the events, chariot racing, gladiator games,the wild beast hunts, public evacuations, the "sea battles", circus disasters. The Colosseum was 157 ft tall. Today the Colosseum is used for picture backgrounds.
