2016 THE YEAR IN REVIEW

2016 was a lovely year full of new experiences and wonderful memories.

We started the year off in the Bayou with friends

And also explored the vibrant city of New Orleans

Li'l Dizzy's is a classic cafe in the Treme. One of our favorite places to eat.

My grand daughter Arista turned five in March

The biggest event this year was probably my retirement after working at the same place for 31 years.

My retirement party

Right after my retirement on July 1, I started off on a trip to Europe

Bastille Day in Paris

Many people were concerned about us even though we were some 500 miles North of the tragic act of terrorism in Nice that same day.

Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris

has become one of my favorite places.

The colorful city of Porto, Portugal

spreads gracefully along the River Douro

The Dom Luis I Bridge

Porto is overlooked by this magnificent bridge inspired by Gustave Eiffel of Eiffel Tower fame.

Belem Tower in Lisbon, Portugal

Fado singer at Belem Tower

A short trip to Ireland

A beautiful donkey in Cleggan, County Galway

St Pancras Station, London

I was joined in London by my beautiful wife Cindy

London, England

My Hometown. A view Eastward along the River Thames with The Shard (the tallest building in Western Europe) dominating the skyline on the right, and Tower Bridge in the distance (bottom left)

Edinburgh Castle, Scotland

We were in Edinburgh primarily for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival where the streets were full of performers and fascinating characters.

Street musicians (with feeling!)

Eilean Donan Castle at the gateway of the Isle Of Skye

The Old Man of Storr, Isle of Skye

Glencoe, Scotland

We ended our trip in the Highlands of Scotland

All in all a wonderful year (politics aside!) I am already planning trips for next year and I am also hoping to finish my documentary.
