Annual Fundraising Season Updates

We are rounding the corner for the Bingo Event at the Colorado Hotel on November 9, 6-9. I met with the managers there yesterday. They will put food stations throughout the room to include: a taco station, a pizza station, a fondue station, a salad bar, and a cheese station. There should be a lot of yummy treats for everyone. Our silent auction will area stationed off and there will be prizes for an ongoing Bingo game. If you have not purchased your ticket, it's not too late. You can send a $50 check to the school or you can buy tickets here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/two-rivers-bingo-night-hotel-colorado-tickets-51446229056. We will have your name the event will check you in. Remember, if you want to take advantage of child care, the 8th grade class will sponsor that at our school under the supervision of Ben Canady and other volunteers. They have some fun activities planned for our children. Send an email to Ben with your questions or sign up at Ben.Canady@tworiverscs.org. A big shout out to the members of this committee who have putting this all together. Thank you, Cynthia Wheeler, Aubrey Glen, Ashley Kramer, Jenny Basset and Tim Walker, to name a few. Our last meeting for this event is scheduled for 11-5 at 5:00.

Student-led Conferences: Nov. 15-16

Student-led conferences are an important part of the learning process at TRCS. The purpose of the student leading the conference is to allow them to take charge of their learning. Parents can expect their children to provide details about areas of strength and areas where they need more support. Come prepared to ask your kids about their goals for the school year and how they plan to achieve those goals. The teacher is the facilitator of the conversation and can help provide more information as needed. Grades 6-8 conferences will be held in the gym in an open house format and grades K-5 will be scheduled conferences with unidad teachers. Teachers will send sign up details later this week. Conferences will take place on Thursday, November 15 from 12: 30-8: 00 pm (half day for students, without lunch) and Friday, November 16 from 8: 00-12: 00 (there are no classes for students).

TRCS Service Learning

Community service is an important part of the TRCS education. As such, all of our students in kindergarten through 8th grade will participate in various learning service projects between November 12 and December 14. Talk to your children about the importance of being a positive member and contributor to their community!

Book Fair Volunteer Opportunities

Traditionally we organize a book fair during conferences. This year they are scheduled for November 15 and 16. If you want to register to help sell, set up or break down, send an email to our super volunteer, Aubrey Glen at amglennfam6@gmail.com

Teacher Meals During Conferences

Our teachers work non-stop during conference days to facilitate communication about your child's academic and behavioral progress. If you want to sign up to bring something to feed them during that time, send an email to Aubrey Glen at amglennfam6@gmail.com

Accountability Meeting Date Change: 11/27

We have changed the date of our second School Accountability Meeting to November 27. TRCS is currently working on the development of our strategic plan and we would like feedback from parents to help us guide our school for the coming years. Please come if you can. Everyone is welcome!

Ski Sale 11/17

One of our new families has donated a storage shed full of skis, boots, boards and helmets for us to sell. We are going to advertise in the newspaper and we will set up shop on 11-17 at TRCS. It would be great to have them for when company arrives and does not want to rent skis. The quality varies a lot. Come and see it yourself. The best offers will be accepted. We can also participate in this event to sell fresh and homemade tamales. One of our 8th grade parents is leading this. All proceeds go to Mexico. Last year we sold almost $ 2,000 worth. They were excellent and perfect to freeze for company.
