Shakespeare's Early Life

Quote:

"William Shakespeare was born in the small market town of Stratford-upon-Avon in 1564, the third of eight children. The register of Holy Trinity, the parish church in Stratford, records his baptism on April 26."(Lander).

My Ideas:

At that time children were generally born around three days after birth. This would mean that Shakespeare was probably born on April 23, 1564.

Quote:

"The Shakespeare's were a family of considerable local prominence. In 1565 John Shakespeare became an alderman. Three years later, he was elected bailiff (mayor), the highest civic honor that a Stratford resident could receive" (Lander).

My Ideas:

Shakespeare's family was well known in their home town surely contributing to good wealthiness. Their wealth also likely went towards Williams education.

Shakespeare's Late Life

Source:

"William Shakespeare." Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia, 6Th Edition (2016): 1-4. History Reference Center. Web. 9 Feb. 2017.

Quote:

"In 1594 Shakespeare became an actor and playwright for the Lord Chamberlain's Men, the company that later became the King's Men under James I. Until the end of his London career Shakespeare remained with the company... by 1597 he was prosperous enough to buy New Place in Stratford, which later was the home of his retirement years"(“William”).

My Ideas:

Shakespeare used his knowledge from school and pursued a career in the playwright and artist field. When Shakespeare retired he was able to buy his family a home called New Place in Stratford.

Shakespeare's Late Life 1

"William Shakespeare." Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia, 6Th Edition (2016): 1-4. History Reference Center. Web. 9 Feb. 2017.

Quote:

" In 1599 he became a partner in the ownership of the Globe theatre, and in 1608 he was part owner of the Blackfriars theatre. Shakespeare retired and returned to Stratford c.1613. He undoubtedly enjoyed a comfortable living throughout his career and in retirement, although he was never a wealthy man"(“William”).

My Ideas:

Shakespeare was very successful and influential even in his late life inspiring many other actors. The globe theater even inspired the way many other played were featured.

Shakespeare's Mid-Life

Source:

Lander, Jesse M. "Shakespeare, William." World Book Advanced. World Book, 2016. Web. 17 Nov. 2016.

Quote:

"On November 27, 1582, Shakespeare received a license to marry Anne Hathaway, the daughter of a local farmer... At the age of 18, William was young to marry, while Anne at 26 was of normal marrying age"(Lander).

My Ideas:

Shakespeare and Anne might have rushed things considering Shakespeare was 8 years younger than Anne. Shakespeare might have wanted to marry someone of higher prominence but if he loved Anne dearly then he made the right choice.

Shakespeare's Mid-Life 1

Source:

"William Shakespeare." Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia, 6Th Edition (2016): 1-4. History Reference Center. Web. 9 Feb. 2017.

Quote:

" They had three children: Susanna, born in 1583, and twins, Hamnet and Judith, born in 1585. Nothing is known of the period between the birth of the twins and Shakespeare's emergence as a playwright in London (c.1592)"(“William”).

My Ideas:

Shakespeare ended up raising a family of three kids with his wife. Shakespeare's twins were about 2 years younger than his first daughter.
