Destroyers Good friends make for a great team

Lifelong friends

It all started in kindergarten. A group of boys came out for soccer and have been playing together ever since. Their coach, Craig Ballinger, has been with them the whole way. He manages to keep the game fun and help the boys get better each season.

Infectious atmosphere

It didn't take long before other parents and kids heard about the fun and wanted to join in. The team grew and Cyril Bouanna joined Ballinger as coach.

They did more than have fun. They won. A lot. The boys were not significantly more talented than their opponents in most cases, but their chemistry allowed them to play with anticipation and selflessness. They were precocious in their willingness to find the open player and create the types of passing combinations that are difficult to stop.

The lethal left foot of Sam

The Destroyers took another step toward dominance when a collection of highly talented players joined the squad and a handful of the existing team members enjoyed their first major growth spurt.

Kyle is another big left foot, even in a small package.

These boys enjoy kicking the ball, but their unusual height and weight for soccer players helps them earn their nickname. If they can't take the ball away from you, they may knock you away from the ball.

Boom!

Nearly perfect

The boys were almost undefeated this past season. They dropped their final regular season game, but advanced to the finals of the regional playoffs. Their arch nemesis stood on the opposite sideline, as the reigning state champs. Despite missing their leader in assists due to injury, the Destroyers led for most of the game. The game was ultimately decided in penalty kicks, with the Destroyers falling just short of a win. The loss was tough, but the boys were smiling and laughing soon after.

Losses can linger, but not when you are surrounded by friends.
