Dawn Butzloff parent Liaison At Margaret k lEWIS

What a Parent Liaison means to me! With MKL it is especially rewording to see all the bright smiling faces of the children during the day. With MKL being a special needs, Handicap school it's a chore for most parents and student's to rise everyday then get ready to get on the school bus and come to school. We take special pride in all those that put there best effort to be here daily.

I am new to the Bay District and MKL, but I choose this position and accepted Ms. Hast offer to be the Parent Liaison, but I was a little hesitant. Then after sleeping on in it I determined this was the best thing I could do in my life right now. The position is rewarding at MKL and I feel like I am actually helping and giving back. To have a down syndrome child come up to every morning and give you a hug and kiss is the greatest gift of the day.

Since I am fairly new, the transition with the parents is a little slow, but we will get there. I guess I have more contact with the parents that bring in children that are wheelchair bound than most overs. It's amazing to see the kids and parents when they show up daily and even for special events.

As the days progress I am learning the school, teachers, and rest of the staff. I like my job and enjoy coming to work everyday. I haven't been able to say that in a long time. I look forward to continuing to get to know the children's parents and be of any assistance that I can to anyone.
