Tiger Tales Stories from Distance Learning and Beyond | January 2021

District 192 has hit the ground running as we kick off a new calendar year. We're welcoming student athletes back to the gym, preparing to bring elementary students back to the classroom, and continuing to make distance learning a meaningful and valuable experience. Here is a glimpse into what learning has looked like in District 192 as we begin the new year.

Middle School Art

"Students from DMS and BMS have been developing their photo composition skills as an enrichment to their daily learning. Each week they learn a new technique and then are given a photo challenge. Before winter break they composed images to tell the story of life during a pandemic. Here is a collage of some of their work for this challenge." - Kristin D. Ammerman

Dodge Middle School Math

8th grade advanced math students in Rosina Drury's class wrote to their peers who were distance learning. In the letters, the students had to choose two problems from an activity they were doing in class and show and explain to their peers at home how to solve the problems graphically and algebraically. Students learning from home wrote back with that they learned from their peers.

FHS Band Highlight

"Band & Distance Learning is a challenge but gives us a chance to tackle unique projects! Several groups are currently creating 'virtual ensembles,' with each student performing single parts at home. Thru audio/video editing, we assemble into 1 "virtual" band!" - @FHSTigerBand1

Pouncer Visits Riverview Elementary Students

Pouncer (the Farmington Mascot) has been visiting RVES students to say “thank you” for doing such an awesome job during Distant Learning!

Athletics are back!

We were excited to welcome Farmington High School student athletes back to the gym over the last couple weeks. "With COVID restrictions on group sizes, we are really fortunate to have multiple weight rooms in different buildings to use so we can get all of our in-season teams in to lift." - @FarmingtonPower

Did you know we have an e-sports team?

Congratulations to the Farmington E-sports team on winning the Bronze medal at the state meet!

Thank you to everyone who shared a Tiger Tale! Look for more in the latest School Reporter and in another issue of Tiger Tales soon.
