Anti-war Movement By: Bayron Cifuentes

In the history of the United States there have been many social movements that have occurred. One of those movements is the Anti-War Movement. The A.W.M was one of the most significant and important movements for peace in the United States and in the world as well. Opposition to the war in the United States have been going on since the American Revolution. Many important events involving the A.W.M have occurred during the Vietnam and Iraq wars. For example, the March on the Pentagon that was opposition to the Vietnam War. The biggest protest around the world occurred on February 15, 2003, in opposition to the war in Iraq. Organizations like Act Now to Stop War and End Racism (A.N.S.W.E.R) helped organize many protests around the country in opposition to the war on Iraq. As a result major protests around the world occurred during the time of the invasion of Baghdad. The A.W.M is important to U.S history, establishing world peace and is essential in sending the message that war in not the best solution to world conflicts. As a result of the Anti-war Movement today many wars have been avoided and many wars have stopped saving many American soldiers lives. Today some Iraq and Vietnam veterans are living thanks to the protests that helped end the Vietnam and Iraq war.
