Bruce Springsteen Life Bio

Bruce Springsteen was born on September 23, 1949, in Long Branch, New Jersey. He was born into a working-class family. Years after Bruce realized that his rocky relation ship with his father helped with his career as a singer. He fell in love with rock 'n' roll when he saw Elvis Presley perform on a TV show. His mother took out a bank loan to buy him a $60 guitar for his 16th birthday. Throughout his career his won around 15 Grammy's and more than 55 albums. Bruce Springsteen was at the height of his popularity in the 1970's and 1980's. His music is still beloved by many people today.

Cultural Significance

His song "Thunder Road" started traditional verse and chorus structures for songs during the 1975 era. The arrangement of the song increases slowly in instrumentation, tempo and intensity of the song.

Examples of Literary Devices

Imagery, repetition and rhyming is repeated throughout the song. An example of Imagery is in stanza one line three he sings that "Like a vision she dances across the porch". An example of repetition is in stanza six lines four,seven, and eight he sings that "Thunder Road". An example of rhyming is repeated in stanza one lines five and six he sings the words lonely and only at the end of the lines.
