We chose Kikar Rabin because it is in the center of the city and it feels very alive. People sit in cafes and bars around Kikar Rabin and it is the cultural center for the city. All Israeli holidays and celebrations are celebrated here.
Yitzhak Rabin was the Prime Minister of Israel. He was holding a peace rally in Rabin Square when he was assassinated. He was trying to pass the Oslo Agreement. The whole country was shaken when he was murdered. They held peace protests for years to come and that is why the square has become a gathering place for celebrations and protests alike.
Before the incident with Yitzhak Rabin, the square was called Kikar Malchei Yisrael. There is a statue in the middle of the square to remember the victims of the Holocaust. From the side, it looks like triangles, but from above it shows the Star of David.
