Catching Creativity is a newsletter developed by Shakopee Digital Learning Coaches to share ideas and inspire all of us to embrace the 6C's and reshape learning experiences.

First Grade

My Nutrition Book • First grade students at Sun Path used Book Creator to demonstrate their learning about nutrition. Students identified food from each food group and did an internet search to find items and group them accordingly. They also completed a pie chart representing the number of servings of each of the items they should have each day.

Talking CoinsSun Path first graders also used ChatterPix Kids to show off their knowledge of coin values and how to identify each coin. Check out their creative learning!

Authentic Learning in Shakopee

As part of our professional development this week, secondary teachers explored a model for authentic learning and the power of learning in partnership with businesses, experts, and community members. In this series of five videos, grade 6-12 students and teachers talk about authentic learning in Shakopee.

Breakout EDU

8th and 9th Grade AVID students at West and East Junior Highs completed a Breakout EDU session by unlocking clues related to the key AVID principles like organization and life-long learning skills.

Sun Path Staff Meeting Teachers at Sun Path came together and used their creativity and inquiry skills to solve puzzles and open locks. The activity demonstrated the importance of teamwork to think about the strengths of effective PLCs.

CEU Requirements DLCs have collaborated with content experts to create engaging self-paced courses in Canvas that meet relicensure requirements including EL and Behavior. We are working on courses that meet mental health, and suicide prevention, and secondary literacy CEU requirements. For more information about relicensure check out the CEU Committee FAQ.
