Ferdinand Magellan

He was known for the first circumnavigation of the earth. He was also known for the crossing of the Atlantic to the straight of Magellan to he pacific.

He proved that the world isn't flat, but in fact round.

He used a compass, a compass rose, a back staff and a lead line.

Magellan had faced many challenges on his voyage. Three of his other captains were planning to murder him, they had been caught in a bunch of strong storms, Portuguese spies had stolen food from his boat, many people died of sickness, and finally, Magellan didn't even make it out alive to finish his own voyage. He died in the Philippines, while in a battle with the natives.
