Latino Family Day

Latino Family Day is an education conference for Latino students in 8th to 11th grade and their families. Child care and lunch will be provided. It will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2020. Check in starts at 8:45 am and ends at 3:30 pm at the SOU campus (Stevenson Union) 1250 Siskiyou Blvd, Ashland, OR 97520. Poetry Out Loud

Are you interested in competing in this year's Poetry Out Loud poem recitation competition? To participate, students must memorize and recite a poem from the POL website. This year's tournament is scheduled for Feb. 11. If you'd like to get involved, stop by to see Mrs. Sullivan in rm 19 or email her at kristen.sullivan@district6.org.

Volunteer Opportunity

Gold Valley Little League is in need of student volunteers to help out with concession stand duties, field maintenance, and also umpiring games. (Softball and baseball players can umpire, as long as they are 16, or older).

Don't forget to turn in your Public Service Documentation Forms to get credit for your volunteer hours! The pink forms can be found at the office and they can be turned into Lisa at the office. Job Training Opportunities!

New job training Intersession! Lifeguard Certification Training- Students will be enrolled in the Medford YMCA Lifeguard Certification Training. This Intersession will involve both classroom time and live pool time. Students interested in this must be 15 years of age and already know how to swim. This training usually costs $225 but is being offered at a greatly reduced fee of $100 to CAHPS students. Please see Lisa in the Main Office to sign-up.

Blood Drive

Every two seconds, someone, somewhere needs a blood transfusion. Join your fellow classmates on Tuesday, January 28, and help local patients during the American Red Cross Blood Drive in the Library from 9 am to 3 pm. Students must be at least sixteen years old to donate and a sixteen year old must have a signed American Red Cross Parental Consent form. Consent forms and sign up sheets are in the office and library. Sign up today. Your one blood donation could help save up to three lives. Any Questions- see Ellie Laws on the Student Executive Council.

Athletics

It is our great honor to congratulate head Crater Baseball Coach, Jay Campbell, on being selected as the 2018-19 Northwest Section Baseball Coach of the Year!!!! Jay was specifically nominated by the Oregon School Activities Association as the most deserving recipient for this honor amongst coaches of the sport in Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Wyoming. Honorees were judged upon their performance in the 2018-19 school year, lifetime community involvement, school involvement and philosophy of coaching. This selection also puts Jay into the running for National Coach of the Year!
