Loire Valley Cultural grandeur

Southwest of Paris midway to Bordeaux lies the Loire Valley a region crammed with vineyards and châteaux.

Many of the châteaux have wonderful gardens and beautifully restored interiors.

While it can be exciting to gaze out on a dinner setting once used by Marie Antoinette, it's best not to lose your head (groan).

We followed the Loire river from Angers to tours over 5 days in 2014. If you like duck and foie gras travel south towards Bordeaux and visit the wine towns of Sarlat & Saint-Émilion where only local produce is used in the mouth-watering restaurants.
