Education For All not just the ones in the bowl

Think left and think right and think low and think high. Oh, the thinks you can think up if only you try! ~Dr. Seuss
Let's think about an education for everyone.

It's a Spark!

What must we do to think about a world where education is available for everyone? We must work as an educational community to creatively design a framework that enables education for everyone. In order to do this we must find the core of what sparks imagination, creativity, and a desire to learn. We must brainstorm and open dialogue about what drives us as individuals and as a community to wonder about a particular subject or group of subjects in more depth. We must dig deep within ourselves and answer to two simple questions...

Why must I learn more? What sparks my desire to learn?
Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself. ~John Dewey
Why must I learn more? What sparks my desire to learn?

It means life to me!

At some point the educational system says that we have learned as much as we need to learn within a given system. The educational system says, "You're all done. Now go live your life." John Dewey said, "education is not preparation for life; education is life itself." So if education is life itself how can it end?

For many of us the end of the traditional system and the continuation of life sparks a need for more education. It's a need to live life. What is that driving force that sparks the desire to learn more. It may be education itself. Now for the nagging question and perplexing problem... How do we enable learning opportunities for everyone past when the traditional schools end?

How do we enable learning opportunities for everyone?
“There is nothing more notable in Socrates than that he found time, when he was an old man, to learn music and dancing, and thought it time well spent.” ~Michel de Montaigne
We are in a new era of information and opportunities in learning.

With the availability of the internet in almost all regions of the world, the ability of learners to access information has exponentially grown. Once unaccessible avenues of knowledge, closed to all but a select few, are now open. (At least, they should be open.) The question now becomes where does the vast ability to access information merge with enabling education? Is there a collide between access and deep learning? The internet, and access to educational materials alone, is not enough. What new roles must we identify to facilitate higher learning? What does a teacher look like in this new world? What does an educational system look like in this new world.

What does an educational system look like in this new world.
The task of the modern educator is not to cut down jungles, but to irrigate deserts. ~ C. S. Lewis
Where do you find yourself in this new educational world? Are you cutting down jungles still or irrigating deserts?
Building the global classroom.

Can we build a global classroom that gives all access to continuous education? What do we need to do to make this happen?
