LACROSSE LAST WEEK
The Lyons made a strong statement to open their 2019 campaign on Saturday, defeating Gordon College on the road by an 18-3 margin. MHC was paced by rookie Abby Baldwin, who recorded a game-best six goals with game-high's as well in shots (15), shots on goal (8), draw controls (6) and caused turnovers (4). It marked the second straight season opening win for the Lyons, who saw seven other players score as well in the game.
TENNIS LAST WEEK
The Lyons opened their spring slate last weekend, competing at the 2019 Seven Sisters Championships, hosted by Vassar. MHC finished third overall with a 2-2 mark, including wins against Bryn Mawr and Smith. The efforts were paced by juniors Ching-Ching Huang and Catherine Peabody, who were named to the All-Tournament Team at the end of the event.
RIDING last week
The Lyons returned to regional show action last weekend, earning Reserve Champion at the Smith College Show on Saturday. MHC compiled 41 points, just one outside first, and saw Sara Hearn (right) and Lexi Lobdell (left) named the Overall High Point and Reserve High Point Riders, respectively.
SWIMMING AND DIVING last week
The Lyons returned to action last week at the 2019 NEWMAC Championships, hosted by WPI. MHC had a number of solid efforts during the four-day long event, including the Lyons' diving trio. Junior captain Sam Nemivant was sixth off both the 1 and 3-meter boards. Sophomore Katie Kolozsvari was 11th on the 1-meter and 10th on the 3, while rookie Kathryn Murphy placed ninth on the 1 and was 11th on the 3-meter.
SQUASH last week
The #21 Lyons headed to the 2019 CSA Women's Team National Championships last week. MHC opened with a tough 6-3 loss to #20 Franklin & Marshall, before recording a 5-4 win against #24 St. Lawrence in the consolation semifinals. The Lyons faced-off against #23 Wesleyan, shouldering a tough 7-2 loss in the consolation championship. Mount Holyoke was paced by rookie Mihiliya Kalahe Arachchige, who went 3-0 on the weekend to improve to 20-1 on the season.
TRACK AND FIELD LAST WEEK
The Lyons saw qualified individual athletes compete at the 2019 New England Division III Championships at Bowdoin last weekend. Highlighting the events was the 4x800 relay team of Sydney Nash, Corrin Moss, Emsie Cronin and Simone Jacob, who finished 10th overall - posting a new school record by over 16 seconds from the previous mark.
