PERMIT ACTIVITY

Permit activity from January to July of this year is relatively similar to last year. For instance, the number of permits issued this year and the value of the work being done under those permits is nearly the same as last year.

In July, the City issued permits for six new accessory dwelling units, three new single-family houses, and tenant improvements for Planet Fitness (9055 Las Tunas Dr.). Case planners also received plans for five new single-family houses, a new three-unit condominium, a 26-unit apartment building, and six accessory dwelling units.

FALL SPORTS

Registration has begun for the youth flag football and volleyball programs. The Flag Football program, which is for youth ages 3 ½ to 8 and in grades 4th through 8th, is a fun and safe co-ed league where participants learn the fundamentals of the game and build their athletic skills while learning teamwork and good sportsmanship. The program runs from August 28 - November 2. Practices will be held at Live Oak Park and local elementary schools, including Emperor and Cloverly.

The Youth Volleyball program is also co-ed and teaches participants the fundamentals of volleyball, including techniques of serving, passing, setting and hitting, all while promoting teamwork and good sportsmanship. Youth in grades 5th - 8th will practice and play games every Saturday beginning September 7 through November 16.

Registration is now being accepted for both programs.
