Fuente de la alcachofa (Artichoke fountain):

Carlos III comsiond the fountain , made in 1781. The style is Baroc. The sculpture was in Atocha ,but now there is one replic made of bronce .

The real one is made of granite and stone.

Artichokes were important because they were the basic food in Madrid, they were the lifeline.

The desing was of a very important artist called Ventura Rodriguez

The person who built it was Antonio Primo and Alfonso Hidalgo.

Was made to make the city more beautiful

La puerta de Alcalá ( Alcalá door) :

Built by Carlos III to replace a 16th century door.es diseñada por Ángel Fernández de los Ríos.

In 1778 and is considered as Historical-Artistic Monument.

Belongs to one of the five real gates that give access to Madrid.Carlos III edificó la puerta como símbolo conmemorativo de su entrada en Madrid.

Madrid en su origen, contaba con numerosas puertas de acceso a través de su muralla, puertas de registro donde se realizaban el pago de los impuestos, como la puerta de Segovia (Puente de Segovia), Guadalajara, Atocha, Toledo, Alcalá y Bilbao.

Ha sido restaurada en cinco ocasiones respetando siempre el origen de los materiales y manteniendo intactos los impactos de proyectiles.

La Puerta de Alcalá, ha sido espacio de propaganda y ha vivido numerosos acontecimientos de celebración
