Leviticus 26:11-13 by silvana celestino

Rewards for obedience

I will put my dwelling place among you, and will not abhor you. I will walk among you and be your god, and you will be my people. I am the Lord your God, who bought you out of Egypt so that you would no longer be slaves to the Egyptians; I broke the bars of your yoke and enabled you to walk with your heads held high.(Leviticus 26:11-13)

This passage is about the covenant between God and the Israelite's who were once slaves to the Egyptian people. God set them free from the chains of slavery and enabled them to walk with their heads held high. In return for freeing the Israelite's God made an agreement that in return for freeing them, they would be his people and be Gods followers.

Moses was adopted by the Egyptian pharaohs daughter down by the river Nile. One day when Moses was older he went down and saw his people being treated badly by the Egyptian people. Moses saw an Israelite being treated badly by one of the Egyptian people, and suddenly the Israelite turned and killed the Egyptian man. When the pharaoh heard of this he wanted to kill Moses. So Moses fled to Midian. One day when Moses was in Midian looking after some sheep, a priest form Midian led the sheep to Mount Sanai, the Holy Mountain. When Moses arrived he saw a burning bush. He went to the bush and saw an angel, but in the flame he saw God, God said to Moses "Don't come any closer. Moses, i have seen how my people have been treated by the Egyptians". And God asked Moses to go to Egypt and save his people. (Exodus 3)

When Moses arrived back in Egypt to save the Israelite's, Aron ( Moses's older brother ) and Moses confronted the Egyptian pharaoh and said, "let my people go!" The pharaoh responded, and said "who is the God that i may obey?" Moses said back, "The God of the Hebrews has spoken to us". Eventually, Moses and Aron managed to get the Israelite's out of Egypt. Moses raised his hands over the red sea and parted it. By parting the red sea , the Israelite's ran through the parted sea and they were saved. (Exodus 5)
