Recreation Summer Camps 2021 For children entering grades 1st through 5th

Affordable, Convenient, Safe + Fun! Recreation Summer Camps

Six, one-week sessions: Monday, June 21 to Friday, July 30. There is no camp on Monday, July 5.

All our camps are nearly at capacity. Register now your children at Eastside Community Center, 2841 E. University Avenue, Register Online.

We are pleased to offer this fun-filled, educational program. Our summer camp programming has adopted the Florida Recreation and Park Association (FRPA) initiatives for programming to include: education, health, economic development, environmental sustainability and community building in addition to The Character Counts® Program, which consists of Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship.

New this year are registration dates:

  • In-person at the PRCA Administrative Office located at Thomas Center Building B, 3rd Floor, 306 NE Sixth Avenue, Gainesville, FL 32601; Monday through Friday: 9 a.m.-3 p.m. (see registration dates below)
  • City residents only beginning Monday, April 12
  • Resident and non-city resident beginning Monday, April 26

Times and Dates:

  • Camp times: Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. – 6 p.m.
  • Session One: Monday, June 21 through Thursday, June 25
  • Session Two: Monday, June 28 through Friday, July 2
  • Session Three: Tuesday, July 6 through Friday, July 9 (No camp on Monday, July 5)
  • Session Four: Monday, July 12 through Friday, July 16
  • Session Five: Monday, July 19 through Friday, July 23
  • Session Six: Monday, July 26 through Friday, July 30

Gainesville Arts and Parks Foundation scholarships are available this summer.

  1. Please note: When scholarships are granted, a child must attend the program on a full-time basis. Full time equates to three times a week. If a child misses one of the following: Five consecutive days, or two weeks without attending three days per week, then the scholarship will be revoked.
  2. The child may remain a registered participant by paying the full camp rate for the remainder of the desired session within two days of the decision. If the parent/guardian does not make this payment, the child will be withdrawn from camp.
  3. Scholarship information: Scholarships are available for families that qualify through the School Board of Alachua County (SBAC) for free or reduced lunch. Families can also submit the City of Gainesville Family Application for Reduced Fees to qualify. Proof of the past four weeks of income will need to be submitted with the application at the time of registration. You can request proof of free or reduced lunch through your child’s school by calling the SBAC’s Food Service Office at 352-955-7539, extension 1569.
  4. GAP scholarships are available this summer.

Recreation Summer Camp: For children entering 1st through 5th grade

The child must have completed kindergarten during the 2020-21 school year and be entering 1st through 5th grades. If the child has completed 5th grade, they must attend our teen camp.

Registration fee for each session: $55.25 for city residents; $82.50 for non-city residents *Proof of residency (GRU bill or voter ID card) is required at time of registration.

Albert "Ray" Massey Recreation Center, 1001 NW 34th Street. Nearly at capacity.

Eastside Community Center, 2841 E. University Avenue, Register Online.

Phoenix Community Center, 3113-B SW 26th Drive, must live in the Phoenix community. Nearly at capacity.

Porters Community Center, 512 SW Second Terrace. Nearly at capacity.
