Husky E-News March 18, 2019

From the Principal

Dear Hillendale,

I hope everyone has enjoyed the past week and the signs that spring is on its way. This is the first edition of Hillendale's newly redesigned Husky E-News. This weekly newsletter is a collaboration between Hillendale's staff and PTO to bring you highlights of learning and wellness in our school as well as information on upcoming events.

Parent-Teacher Conferences are scheduled for April 10-12. If you have not done so already, be sure to sign up for conferences with your child's teachers.

PSSAs are coming soon for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. The schedule for PSSAs is as follows.

  • ELA - April 23, 24, and 26
  • Math - April 29, 30
  • Science - May 1, 2 (4th grade only)

Have a great week!

Mr. Audevard

Dedicated to Learning

For several years, the Unionville-Chadds Ford School District has partnered with the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia for multiple exciting professional learning opportunities. This past week, students from Hillendale visited the Franklin Institute along with students from Pocopson Elementary, Chadds Ford Elementary, Patton Middle School, and Unionville High School. Together, these students had a great day learning about the brain and visiting some physics exhibits. They even got to combine what they learned with their maker skills to collaborate on the building of a Rube Goldberg machine. Our Hillendale kids did a great job!

Committed to Growth

This Friday, Hillendale celebrated students who regularly show good decision making at our Spirit Assembly! These Huskies have demonstrated what it takes to make good decisions throughout the year and were recognized by their teachers and the entire school. Congratulations to these great decision makers!
