Classic Adirondack Climbs PRESENTATION Vertical PErspectives Photography

R.L. and Karen Stolz will kick off the 2016 Keene Valley Library Lecture Series with an hour-long photographic presentation introducing their upcoming book, Classic Adirondack Climbs, on Monday, July 11, 2016 at 7:30pm. This program, at the Keene Valley Library in Keene Valley, NY is open to the public and admission is free.

Classic Adirondack Climbs will consist of a guidebook, in ebook format, of selected rock, ice and slide climbs; a hardcover photographic monograph, printed in large-format; and a collection of custom-crafted photographic prints. The routes selected for Classic Adirondack Climbs reflect quintessential Adirondack climbing. With a few exceptions, they feature multi-pitch, traditional climbing in extraordinary mountain settings.

Most of the photographs made for this book employed specialized rigging and equipment, resulting in unique perspectives and a fresh view of Adirondack climbing. This presentation provides a behind-the-scenes view of how the climbs were selected and how the photographs were made. The program will be of interest to technical climbers, scramblers and hikers as well as anyone curious about climbing photography.

R.L. & Karen Stolz, founders of Alpine Adventures in Keene, NY have guided rock and ice climbing and mountaineering in the Adirondacks, and around the world, since 1985. Their extensive knowledge, and intimate recollections, of the routes presented make them uniquely suited to the task of writing about and photographing these climbs. Vertical Perspectives Photography, their foray into serious climbing and mountain landscape photography, has allowed them to focus on creating new and different photographs to portray Adirondack rock, ice and slide climbs.
