People who follow Islam are called Muslims. 1.6 billion people practice this religion today and most live in Russia and Africa.
Islam began I. 610 A.D., when Muhammad claimed to receive divine revelation from the archangel Gabriel. It begin Middle East, specifically in Mecca.
Muhammad was the prophet.
The spreading began when Muhammad and his followers were forced to move to the city of Median. Within a few years, his teaching became so popular he returned with an army of followers and conquered Mecca.
They believed in one God. Their beliefs come form the five central beliefs which are to give, pray, going on pilgrimage, only accepting one God, and that Muhammad was his messenger. They believe in final judgement. Their code of behavior is to do good deeds.
Qur'an! = holy book.
They worship in Mosque.
Crescent moon with stars is their symbol which is the Ottoman Empire that became affiliated with the Muslim world.
Two holidays they celebrate are, Eid Al-Fitr and Eid Al- Adha.
Islam is the second largest religion in the world.


They are called Christians. 2 billion people practice this religion today. The countries with the largest number of Christians are the U.S., Brazil, Mexico, and Russia.
Christianity began in Israel and was based of the beliefs and teaching of Jesus Christ.
It was founded by the followers of Jesus of Nazareth.
The spread was made a lot easier by the efficiency of the Roman Empire.
They believe in one God. Their basic belief is, Jesus is the Son of God, the second person of the Trinity of God the Father, the son, and the Holy Spirit. They believe in final judgement day. Their code is to obey everything Jesus has commanded us.
They read the Bible
They worship in church.
The "fish" which is a symbol of Jesus Christ.
Easter which is the greatest of Christian festivals because it celebrates the resurrection.
Christianity is the largest religion ever.
