HOW THEY GOT HERE

Making its first Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament appearance since the 2016 season, the Leopards have matched their overall win total (six) from the previous two seasons. Wentworth’s three CCC wins are the most since the 2015 campaign.

While Wentworth put itself in the driver’s seat for a playoff berth with a 14-9 win over the University of New England on April 2, the berth was not set in stone until a 19-9 win over Gordon on April 24. In that game, sophomore Ben Coakley had nine points, coming on three goals and six assists and, in the process, became the 15th player in program history to score 100 or points in their career. Junior Tom Rockwell dominated the X against the Fighting Scots, winning a program-record 21 face-offs and also scooped up 10 ground balls.

The Leopards finished the regular season tied for sixth place with Salve Regina, however, the Seahawks won the head-to-head matchup in the regular season (13-12), which placed Wentworth as the number seven seed.

Two offensive standouts, Kyle Doner and Ben Coakley, led the Leopards to victory this season, both achieving the 100-point milestone. Doner and Coakley rank fourth and fifth in the conference in total points this season, with 68 and 63, respectively.
