We can LIFT up our community. Thanks to YOUR support.

In September 2016, Knapp Elementary School became Racine County’s first Community School.

Based on a successful model found in thousands of communities throughout the country, the LIFT (Link and Inspire for Tomorrow) strategy implemented at the school connects families of Knapp and the surrounding neighborhood with resources focused on academics, family relationships, health, and social services.

The implementation of the Community School was a joint effort between United Way of Racine County and the Racine Unified School District, but it wouldn’t have been possible without the generous support of individuals and the business community, just like you.

Creating Positive Change

Through the LIFT strategy, we are removing barriers to learning and moving the needle in the right direction at Knapp Elementary.

By providing supportive programming in health, education, and financial stability for children, families, and neighborhoods, the community school model is helping to improve academic outcomes.

Nothing is more important to Racine County’s long-term economic prosperity than the development of a workforce with the necessary skills and knowledge required to perform the job. That development begins in the classroom and in neighborhoods. Together, we can prepare children for success in education and life by providing the resources and support they need.

Your continued support of our LIFT strategy within the Community School model will continue to make a difference in the lives of families, children, and the entire Knapp community.

Thank you for demonstrating what it means to Live United!

Knapp Elementary is Racine, Wisconsin's FIRST Community School

Community schools increase opportunities for children to succeed in school by adding the kinds of resources known to make a difference: increased parental involvement in children’s education; extra learning opportunities through educational enrichment; consistent access to adult guidance and support; and ready access to health, dental and mental health services.
