Alex and Maria Dyett's Adventure

March 19th (3月 19日): Flight from London to Helsinki

Helsinki Airport

19th/ 20th March (3月19/20日): Helsinki, Finland to Osaka, Japan

20th March (3月20日): Our first glimpse of Japan after 13 1/2 hours travelling.

March 20th (3月20日): Settled into our hotel in Kyoto, snuggled in a Yukata (light weight kimono).

March 21st (3月21日)

A rainy start to the day required a hearty healthy breakfast of berry yogurt waffle... There's fruit. Fruit = Healthy therefore this is healthy!

Alex wasn't convinced either ...

Our apartment: Home for the next few weeks

Alex on our balcony pointing out a nearby shrine. We have a few around us which are part of a Kyoto shrine trail. It's not surprising though really as there are around 2200 shrines in Kyoto.

Q: What are these children looking at?

Answer: The secret of the nightingale floors. Nijo Castle has floors that squeak (they sound like birds tweeting) as you walk on the floorboards. These are an 'anti-ninja' divice that protected the shogun from ninja attacks as anyone could/can be heard walking across the floors.
