Outcome #3 Exhibit Retrieval practice self-study

Common Exhibit for Learning Objective #3: Retrieval Practice Self-Study

Objective: Students will explore and test new strategies for learning and critical thinking.

ABOUT THIS...

Do you see this picture in the background? Yeah, that stuff is hard... at least for me it is. I had never seen any kind of physics until my matriculating at Clemson University. I decided to make use of mnemonic devices, Quizlet, and self-testing to help with my understanding of the content:

APPLICATION...

Earlier on in the semester, I used these methods fairly sporadically to learn concepts just because at the time, scheduling myself to do assignments and study wasn't really "the business". I moved around so much that I got everything in when I could. Most times I would review these devices after I finished my nightly homework. Usually I would study for 10-15minutes because I would likely be on my way to the bed after homework.

REFLECTION...

Looking back - actually we don't really get to look back because I cut this method of studying after my second exam. ☹️ I did not do so well on my first physics exam, so I hoped that with the use of these aids my grade would improve for exam two. That WAS NOT the case, unfortunately. I made the same grade on exam two as I did on exam one. I think I came to the realization after my meeting in the ASC that I am more of a person to person learner. This is where the physics tutoring and learning lab came into play. I'm still awaiting a grade for exam three to determine whether or not my hard work has paid off.
