School Closure Update

We hope you and your families are doing well during these extraordinary times. In a decision from the Supreme Court last night, the Safer at Home order (Executive Order 28) was struck down. Please note that the ruling does not impact public or private K-12 school closures. Therefore, our schools will remain closed for instruction and co-curricular activities for the remainder of the 2019-20 school year (June 30). As a result, we will stay the course and continue to provide remote and distance learning according to our 2019-20 calendar.

Please continue to review our Parent COVID-19 FAQ document where you will find answers to the most commonly asked questions during this time.

Summer School

The District’s summer school team continues to plan for multiple scenarios that may include in-person learning, virtual/distance learning, or a combination of the two. We anticipate guidance from state and local officials soon, which will offer parameters for summer learning in school buildings. Once we receive this information, you can anticipate additional communication and details to follow.

Facilities - Building Our Action Plan To Protect Health

Since school buildings have been closed, our facilities staff, in partnership with our district nurse, continue to take steps towards preparedness for re-entry. Here are some of the actions taken:

  • All spaces and surfaces have been thoroughly cleaned and maintained.
  • Disinfecting procedures continue to be modified and ramped up.
  • We continue to monitor inventory levels to ensure we have supplies needed to sanitize facilities.
  • Hand sanitizer stations will be placed at all staff and student entrances.
  • We have evaluated all of our air quality systems and filtration methods to ensure we are in compliance with CDC recommendations.
  • We have switched to an EPA registered antimicrobial floor finish, which is being applied to all surfaces requiring floor finish.
  • We have invested in electrostatic sprayers at each school to quickly sanitize surfaces without wiping.
  • We continue to monitor and plan for any best practices such as: Social distancing, face coverings, and temperature readings.

If you have any questions related to facilities, please reach out to Jeremiah Johnson, Director of Operations & Human Resources at 262-971-1807.

Mental Health Awareness Month

While May is Mental Health awareness month, we recognize the importance of maintaining mental wellness for our students, families, and staff all year round. Our student services staff have designed an informational presentation containing resources and information to support families in accessing mental health supports and services during this time of school closure. Please take a moment to review the presentation and learn more.
