Dear Friends and Family,
When we first met, we realized we both had an interest in empowering people who were born without the same privileges that we've had. In particular, we both have a passion for supporting refugees and their families who find themselves starting over because it's not safe to return home.
We would be honored for you to consider supporting refugees through a gift to East African Ministries (EAM) in lieu of a traditional wedding present. EAM practically demonstrates God's love through clean water, health and leadership development. In short, it's a program that provides families with the basic necessities they need to thrive, and invests in the next generation of leaders in East Africa. EAM currently works in northern Uganda, and serves an area with nearly 1 million South Sudanese refugees. Before joining JP Morgan, BJ worked at EAM for six years, and currently sits on its board of directors. Darren and I are both passionate about the work that EAM is doing and excited to share this opportunity with each of you. We hope that through our wedding thousands will be served by the amazing programs that EAM operates in some of the most challenging areas of East Africa.
Our goal is to raise $5,000 to be able to provide clean water for South Sudanese refugees currently living in Uganda. This gift will be deployed to help construct a new water well or rehabilitate a broken well that can serve 300+ men, women, and children who currently do not have access to clean water. Any amount you can contribute to this goal would be terrific! In addition to our goal, we would also love for you to consider signing up to support this ministry monthly by becoming one of EAM's Monthly Ambassadors. Both of these options are listed below. Thank you for honoring our marriage by supporting EAM. We look forward to celebrating with you on February 10th!
