Chuck Lanza Buddyguard photographer

Chuck Lanza is a native born and raised New Yorker. A teamster by trade, he met Buddy over 20 years ago at a theater in Conneticut and they instantly became friends. Since meeting they’ve remained friends and can been seen traveling the country together. Chuck is many things for Chuck is many things for Buddy: a friend, a photographer, but also a security guard--making sure Buddy is safe while he is on the road. From New York to Los Angeles, from Chicago to Texas and everywhere in between, Chuck has been there for Buddy.

It’s hard for Chuck to choose his fondest moment, or to truly express how lucky he felt to be with Buddy for his induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, with Buddy when he went to the White House for his Kennedy Center Honors where they shared a moment of true friendship, or his Grammy lifetime achievement award in LA.

Chuck has met so many people through Buddy but none have been more important to him than Paul Natkin. Paul has been his mentor and inspiration, but most of all Paul is the reason Chuck takes his photography so seriously. No matter what Chuck is shooting, from the biggest music stars in the industry to abandoned structures or beautiful cityscapes, Chuck always looks to Paul for advice and, seal of approval. After all, if Paul likes it, you’re definitely doing something right.

Chuck is definitely doing something right, his photos have been featured in the Washington Post, The Boston Globe, and Rolling Stone Magazine. In 2010 Chuck recieved a Grammy certificate for his photos on Buddy’s 2010 release “Living Proof”. Despite those accomplishments Chuck still is hungry to grow and learn more, believing he still has yet to get his perfect photo the mark of a true artist.
