History and Colonism

Jesuits, Dominicans, and Franciscans were all Orders. And what they did was spread Christianity throughout Baja California to the Native Americans or Indians. These orders established religious outposts throughout Baja California. Those missions introduced European livestock, vegetables, and fruits. Soon after, the Indians were impacted by the European diseases and made a huge decrease to the population of the Indians.

Also, an apple has a defense which is the seeds. It contains a small amount of amygdalin (cyanogenic glycoside), when chewing on the seeds it will release hydrogen cyanide, and when chewing a good amount it will become fatal.

Economy and Industry

Fishing

In Baja California, pearling, shrimping, and fishing used to be an important part of the economy. But soon after, Tuna processing facilities were closed because of overuse of fishing. And shrimping was banned in the west, the reason behind this is so that they can let the shrimp species repopulate, or recover. Also, from the 1800’s to the 1950’s, Silver was a big export from the Peninsula. Where the silver came from was from the mountains of Baja California. Because of the increased prices of important metals, small mining companies have been under small operations.
