Yves Saint Laurent Aniyah Lanier

Laurent was a fashion designer who impacted fashion in the 1960's up until today. He was born August 1, 1936 in Oran, Algeria.

After completing his eduction, he moved to Paris attended fashion school at the Chambre Syndicale de la Couture.

Later while in school he introduced to Christian Dior. After this he launched his first for the Ligne Trap├ęze company. Leading into his career in 1857 he was offered the job of being head designer of the House of Christian Dior.

1860, Yves introduced the chic beatnik look, turtlenecks, leather jackets edged with fur.

Some of Yves major works include his 158 collection. This collection saved the enterprise of Christian Dior S.A from financial ruin. This catapulted him into international stardom, later know as the "Trapeze dress".

Yves Saint Laurent died June 1, 2008 of brain cancer. His funeral was held at St. Roch Catholic Church in Paris. His ashes were placed in Marrakech, Morocco, in the Majorelle Garden.

Yves Saint Laurent inspired many and left his mark in today's fashion. His company is owned by Kering, which is the French luxury goods holding company owner of many brands.

Laurent is called the most consistently celebrated and influential designer ever and is regarded as one of the greatest names in fashion design.

Due to his interest in fashion and clothes lead him to being bullied at school for appearing to be gay.
